To Teruel Day 3 & Final Day

To Teruel Day 3 & Final Day

I was very lucky to be able to hold out the strong rains of the night in a comfy hotel room. Around 9h I started the day and after just 15min the rain stopped and made way for a beautiful sunny but also windy (string headwinds) day. In the beginning I was following the rio Esera with some breathtaking views. At Estadilla I had some nice chocolate croissants

I stopped in a Bar/Restaurant but had to wait until 13h until the kitchen opened. English is not really spoken in the countryside but they seem to understand that I want something to eat 🙂

In the afternoon it became more isolated, I was driving through desert like stretches with sometimes 20km between small settlements.

A look on the weather app showed again that tomorrow evening there would be quite a bit of rain. As there were no hotels or campsites anywhere between here and Teruel I decided to push longer to be able to arrive already Friday evening. I road until around 21h30 and found a nice spot not too far from the road to camp for the night.

I only had found some crackers and some sausage in a grocery store so this would be my dinner in the tent 🙂

Final Day – Through the mountains to Teruel

I got up around 5h30, collected all my stuff and went on to the next village were I could get some breakfast.

Today would be even hillier than the day through the Pyrenees. But that also means beautiful landscapes. I took the Route of Silence, and it was exactly that. Very few cars and mostly nature. In the middle I found a motor bike bar and had some nice sandwich with bacon and tomato.

It was beautiful but also I had a schedule, so I was cycling a lot, not really stopping and the wind again didn’t make it easier. The last stretch was a lot of downhill so I could relax again a bit before arriving save and sound in Teruel. I’m quite happy with the legs that did everything without complaining too much 🙂
